And so my coding journey begins

Since a young age, tech has always had my attention. I grew up in a household where we always had a computer at home. I also remember dabbling a bit with HTML on community sites as a teenager. But when it came to pursue what I wanted to do with my life work wise, I didn’t end up choosing anything within tech. I chose to become a lawyer and proceeded to study 4,5 years at the university.

For almost five years now I’ve been working as a lawyer. The work is interesting and challenges me in many ways. Since a while back though there’s been this feeling of wanting to do something else. A feeling of wanting to rediscover a side of me that I’ve left dormant for some time.

I guess it wasn’t until my partner suggested over a year ago that I should look into coding and introduced me to freeCodeCamp that something in me sort of clicked. After doing a few exercises on HTML and CSS I started to see what all the fuss was about. I got inspired by frontend development for the creative outlet that it was and the problem solving part at it’s core.

As my interest for frontend development grew, so did my ambitions to pursue it as a career. I felt drawn to the tech field not only because of the opportunity to work in a fast paced environment where you constantly learn new things. It was also the idea of teamwork — one where you help out and learn from others — that felt very attractive. I’m also a very curious person at heart, which is a great fit for an ever evolving tech industry.

And so, last fall I decided to act on it and applied for a seat at a frontend boot camp in the hopes of gaining a new skill set. Hopefully by the end of it I’ll be able to launch a career within the tech field.
